Introduction

This Accentuate.us JavaScript client parser is not intended for public use. This is created strictly to lay the groundwork for live accentuation in the 1.0 version of the [Accentuate.us Firefox add-on][http://accentuate.us/get/firefox].

Please note well that the use of jQuery is merely for convenience in forming JSON and submitting requests. The Firefox add-on does so without jQuery.

Goals

This project has clear goals to meet before it is to be merged into the Mozilla Firefox add-on:

  • Efficiently submit text for Accentuation based on
    • Typing inactivity (field-specific)
    • Common Punctuation
    • Element blur (possibly satisfied by typing inactivity)
  • Build the buffer with surrounding context words (i.e., after submitting "My name is" and adding " Michael Schade." the second submission should be "is Michael Schade."
  • Resolve conflicts on changing context (i.e., Irish "a" is without accent, but "a gcur" is with (while "a chur" does not))

This project's goals are described on my blog.
