deprojection

Deprojection is a project mainly written in FORTRAN and TCL, it's free.

Description:

Dependencies: CosmoMC package (http://cosmologist.info/cosmomc/). Read the 'Generic Sampler' section in the readme (http://cosmologist.info/cosmomc/readme.html). XSPEC (HEASOFT). Available here: http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/xanadu/xspec/

File descriptions:

xspec/fakespec.tcl TCL code for generating fake xray spectra in xspec. Input: Number of spectra (N), temperature range (in future also possibly other ranges), and all other parameters to constants. Output: N spectra in ASCII format in tcl/output.

xspec/profile_temp.f90 FORTRAN code for plotting counts as a function of temperature for a given channel (energy) in the spectra generated from fakespec.tcl. Input: number of spectra (integer value N), N output files from fakespec.tcl, chosen channel (energy) (integer value corresponding to chosen channel, can always be converted to energy later). Output: ASCII file with counts as a function of temperature for the chosen channel (N points in total, one for each spectrum with different temperatures).

cosmomc/* FORTRAN code from comsomc package. Included for support for custom likelihood function (xraylike). Copy to your cosmomc/source and compile. Edit the Makefile to your compiler.

cosmomc/xraylike.f90 FORTRAN code with our custom likelihood function. Design not completed yet, but we will need it to generate fake spectra, from a library of spectra generated in xspec, or even better; use analytical functions to generate synthetic spectra to be used in MCMC likelihood comparison with real data. TODO: 1) Find a good way to generate fake spectra fast from density, temperature, cluster axis-ratio (and possibly other) parameters. 2) Find a good way to compare the fake spectrum with the real deal (ie. a way to calculate the actual likelihood, or chi-square).
