• Post

  • Integer number

  • Datetime time
  • Post forms trees with help of has_ancestry.
    • post.parent : parent post
    • post.root : root of the topic (tree of post)
    • post.root.topic : topic which post belongs to

• Topic

  • String subject
  • Datetime last_update
  • topic.root : a post

Topic caches the time of the latest mail in the tree. Topic is automatically created when new post is created. topic.last_update is automatically updated when new post is added.
