Use an external editor of your choice to edit text in Firefox.
A Firefox add-on that allows you to edit text field contents in your favorite editor app.
Hold down the control key (command key on Mac) and double-click in a text field to open it in your editor of choice.
The first time, you'll be prompted to select the editor.
