Chrome extension for customizing Chrome 'New Tab' page

This project creates a Chrome (Chromium) extension designed to allow customization of the "New Tab" page. There are currently several extensions in the Chrome Store that allow customization (notably, Speed Dial), but nothing exactly for what we’re looking for.
Currently the New Tab page shows a thumbnail view of the most visited sites. We have created a similar interface where the New Tab page also shows a set of links the user wants, bookmarked or not. The extension Speed Dial does a similar thing, only it seems to have been discontinued for support, which has frustrated the community since its currently got some major performance problems.
The languages we mainly used for this extension are JavaScript and HTML.
The steps below install the extension or one can also make changes to the extension and reload them. These instructions are also available at http://code.google.com/chrome/extensions
1.The extensions's code must be saved in a folder somewhere on your computer.
2.Steps to load extension onto your Chrome Browser. a. Bring up the extensions management page by clicking the wrench icon and choosing Tools > Extensions. b. If Developer mode has a + by it, click the + to add developer information to the page. The + changes to a -, and more buttons and information appear. c. Click the Load unpacked extension button. A file dialog appears. d. In the file dialog, navigate to your extension's folder and click OK.
3.To edit/add the extension a. Edit the files inside the extension folder. b. Return to the extensions management page, and click the Reload button to load the new version of the extension.
