You can setup user tags, based on the following parameters:

• The total number of posts that a user made
• The number of posts that a user made in a vroot
• The number of posts that a user made in a forum
• The registration date for the user
• The date of last activity for the user
• The type of user (user, moderator, admin)
• The user status (active or deactivated)
• The user id or username (a list of user ids or usernames is possible too)
• Whether a user is in a certain group
• Whether a user is in a banlist or not

For running this mod, you need Phorum @REQUIRED_VERSION@ or later. It will not work for earlier versions of Phorum.

Info about post count based tagging:

For post count tagging, the module will keep track of message post counts at various levels. It will keep track of the global post count, the post count per vroot and the post count per forum. In the rules that you setup, you can specify what level the module should consider for that rule. Using this, it is for example possible to define a rule that will only look at the number of messages that the user posted in the active forum.

If you have forums that you do not want to include in the post counts, then you can configure these in the module settings. This might be useful if you have something like a sandbox forum, that your users can use for testing out forum features. Since this is not a serious forum, counting the messages as real posts might not be appropriate.

Install:

• Unpack the archive;

• Move the directory "@MODULE_ID@" to the directory "mods" within your Phorum installation;

• Login as administrator in Phorum's administrative interface and go to the "Modules" section;

• Enable the module "@TITLE@".

• Edit the settings for the module to setup the tagging rules.

• Edit the template(s) to display the tags that you have configured in the tagging rules.

• On the module's settings page, go to the recalculate page to update the post counters for all messages that were posted. This step might take a while for large forums.

Example:

This module is very flexible. If you don't have much experience with Phorum and its templates, then it might be a bit hard to understand and overwhelming at first. Below, I will try to provide a hands on example of what you could do with this module.

Let's assume that you want to assign some special statuses to your users, based on the total number of messages that they posted. As an example, we define the following statuses:

• lurker (0 posts)
• rookie (1-9 posts)
• regular (10-499 posts)
• veteran (500+ posts)

Then we can start out by creating a rule that has:

• Rule name : Lurker status
• Activate for : Any forum
• Activate for pages : [X] for user profile pages [X] for message authors on the read pages [ ] for the authenticated user on every page
• Post count is : total number of posts in all forums
• Post count is less than : 1
• Template var to fill : POST_STATUS
• HTML code to use : lurker

By defining this rule, we tell the module to fill fields like {MESSAGES->user->POST_STATUS} (in the flat view read page), {MESSAGE->user->POST_STATUS} (in the threaded view read page) and {PROFILE->POST_STATUS} (in the user profile page) with the string "lurker" in case the post count for the user is less than one (a.k.a. "zero").

In the interface, you can click on "copy" for the "Lurker status" rule now. This will create a copy of the existing rule, so you won't have to configure all fields again. After this, edit the "Lurker status (copy)" rule to setup the rule for rookie. You'll only have to change the following fields:

• Rule name : Rookie status
• Post count >= : 1
• Post count < : 10
• HTML code to use : rookie

Now copy the "Rookie status" rule and edit the copy:

• Rule name : Regular status
• Post count >= : 10
• Post count < : 500
• HTML code to use : regular

Now copy the "Regular status" rule and edit the copy:

• Rule name : Veteran status
• Post count >= : 500
• Post count < : clear this field
• HTML code to use : veteran

After these steps, you have setup the rules that are needed for creating a post status that depends on the global post count. Now, all that is left is to make sure that the status will made visible in the pages. First, we could edit the template file "read.tpl". This one displays the messages for the flat reading mode. The default 5.2 emerald template has the following code in the {LOOP MESSAGES} loop:

You could for example extend this code like below. The statement {IF MESSAGES->user->POST_STATUS} is not really needed for the rules that we configured here, because those rules will always fill the template variable {MESSAGES->user->POST_STATUS} with some info. But for other rules this check might be necessary, so I figured it would be best to include it in this example:

The same thing can be done in read_hybrid.tpl. In read_threads.tpl, there is a little difference. There you would use {MESSAGE->user->POST_STATUS} (so MESSAGE instead of MESSAGES).

We also enabled the rules for the profile page. The default profile.tpl template contains the following code:

You could extend it like this:

After doing this, you should be able to see the new user status in the message reading and profile pages.

Now, we could also use this status for displaying some message to encourage lurking users (users that only read posts) to start posting in the forums. For this, we would have to make the rule active for the logged in Phorum user as well. So first, go over all the rules and for each for them enable the option "for the authenticated user on every page". After this, you could add something like this to the header.tpl template:

    For every day that you read messages on this forum, without posting
    messages yourself, a cute kitten dies. So you'd better start posting!

If you would want to display the message to anonymous users as well, you could even extend this to:

    Something terrible will happen to your left foot soon if you do not
    start posting messages in this forum quickly!

Instead of using the POST_STATUS rules, you could also setup a separate rule for doing this, which defines the message to show as the HTML code to put in the template variable (in the rule settings). I leave this as an exercise to the reader.
