Mormonizer spec

• Converts text to Mormon friendly text. For example, shit becomes poop and classic becomes clbuttic.
• Also has support for Victor Borge style inflationary language

• The main part of the backend and admin is the translation system. I have added a reddit style front end with comments and voting for the translations.

Language

• A collection of words to replace with a a name a description
• examples are Mormon, and Inflationary
• the simplest language is one that changes the word Dwight to diapers

Word

• a pair of a word to match and a word to replace
• should be able to match partial words
  • ass => butt should match classic
• should also be able to match different capitalizations and match them in the output
  • ass => butt should match Assassination and turn it into Buttbuttination
• a langauge is a collection of these words

Translation

• Applies a language to inputted text
• for each word of the text, apply each word of the language and make any matched changes
  • need to be careful to not have a circular match and match each word once
  • probably need to parse word by word
    • this leads to problems because there is no constraint limiting word model instances to a single word without spaces

Top 100

• same thing as the home page, but shows the top links of all time

Latest

• same thing as the home page, but shows the links ordered by time of submission rather than total votes

Translate

• Top: Large text box for text input
• Middle: language select, translate button
• Bottom: Large text area for the translated text
• Below that: if the user is signed in, include button to link to facebook/twitter
  • Posts a summary with a link to the translate page on this site

Languages

• list the languages with a link to each language page
• include the number of translations in each link
• include the langauge description here

Language

• links to /r/language_name
• shows the top links for a specified language
  • currently only planning on mormon translations

Translation

• Display a single translation and it's comment tree
  • Comment buttons on each comment to add a comment to the tree
    • clicking opens the comment text area in the correct place
    • ajax for submission
    • also include a top level comment at the top of the page
  • all comments loaded through javascript and reloaded every 30 seconds
