A simple set of handy data types for french speaking PostgreSQL developpers

French-specific datatypes for PostgeSQL

This small projects aims at including french-centric data type, such as :

  • "code_postal_fr" : a domain for French zip codes.
  • "numero_securite_sociale_fr" : a domain for the French Social Services ID

This extension also includes two enums :

  • "jour" containing the french names of the days of week
  • "mois" containing the french names of the months.

==== Install ====

You can install the data type using the following

make make install make installcheck

or simply add it to your database. For example, if your database is called foo :

sudo su - postgres psql foo -f sql/pg_french_datatypes.sql

The new data types will available in the public schema :

$ psql foo -c "dT"; Schema | Name | Description --------+----------------------------+------------- public | code_postal_fr | public | jour | public | mois | public | numero_securite_sociale_fr | (4 lines)
