proxime

Proxime is a project mainly written in Java, it's free.

geo-alerts for you and your loved ones

Proxime v1.0

What is it?

Proxime is an application that runs on the Android platform. Any user that installs this app on their mobile device can setup notifications on reaching a particular destination. The user can pick a destination off a map, or search for a particular address. The user can choose to notify herself, or one of her contacts. Essentially, Proxime lets you set up geo-alerts for you and your loved ones.

Software Prerequisites

Here is the list of software you would need to further contribute to this project:

Java SDK 1.6 IntelliJ IDEA 10 CE Android SDK 2.2 (API 8) Google APIs (API 8) Git

Building Proxime

In the absence of any build targets, you can simply clone the repository from https://github.com/avinash-chugh/proxime and point to the Intellij project. You will probably need to set up a run configuration and an Android Virtual Device (AVD) that will host the application.

Known Issues

  • Clicking on a location takes you back to the Events list UI
  • You can create an event without entering any details
  • The Locations UI hangs when the phone/emulator is without access to the Internet
  • The app should warn you upfront if you are offline, and should give you the chance to fix it
