Set up git to use this repository

Setup your ssh key

Account Settings -> SSH Public Key -> Add public key

Title: anything you want
Key: the full content of your ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub

Make sure you can log in to github

Clone this repository locally

git clone [email protected]:<your user>/settings-portlet.git

Create a remote branch, and track it locally

1. Create a remote branch: git push origin origin:refs/heads/<branch_name>
2. Link to it locally: git checkout -b <branch_name> origin/<branch_name>

Make changes, and push them when you are ready

1. Edit some files, until you are ready.
2. Check the status of your repository: git status
3. Stage the files that you want to commit: git add <files>
4. Commit your changes locally: git commit -m "Your message"
5. Check your log: git log
6. Push your changes: git push
