Script for testing TikZ graph drawing algorithms

Description

This repository contains a script (generate-graphs.rb), a configuration file (repository.json) and a library of test graphs (src/) to test TikZ graph drawing algorithms with.

The script allows families of graphs as well as individual graphs to be drawn or regenerated independently. It provides a command-line interface for testers to select algorithms and control the output verbosity. The configuration file makes it possible to adjust TikZ options for families of graphs, individual graphs for all algorithms as well as only for specific algorithms.

The PDFs containing the graph drawings are generated from templates in the templates/ folder. The example templates require ConTeXt, but it is easy to replace them with templates written for LaTeX.

Usage information

Usage: ./generate-graphs.rb [OPTIONS] -b, --batch Batch processing (no interaction needed) -c, --cleanup Clean up the build directory -n, --regenerate Regenerate existing graphs -v, --verbose Print the compile logs -t, --type TYPE Add graph type to generate drawings for -f, --file FILE Add graph file to generate drawings for -a, --algorithm ALGORITHM Add algorithm to be used -h, --help Display usage information

Examples:

./generate-graphs.rb -t digraphs -a "Hu2006 spring electrical" ./generate-graphs.rb -f src/c_n/c_5 ./generate-graphs.rb -t digraphs -f src/k_n/k_10 -a "H2006 spring"
