win-copy-paths-ext

Win-copy-paths-ext is a project mainly written in C++ and C, it's free.

Finally, a Windows copy path(s) shell extension that behaves just how I want.

Windows Copy Path(s) shell extension

Adds a context menu option to Explorer to copy the path(s) of the selected files and/or directories to the clipboard. Yes, another one. None of the extensions I could find behaved how I wanted.

The original code for this extension was written by Nick Carruthers and published at http://www.codeproject.com/KB/shell/copypathext.aspx.

Features:

  • Can copy multiple filenames at once
  • Hold down Shift + right click to copy path(s) in quotes
  • Hold down Ctrl + right click to copy C-style path(s) in quotes with escaped backslashes

Installation

A release version is present in the bin/ReleaseUMinDependency/ folder. To install it, do the following (you probably need administrative access):

  • Download the CopyPathExt.dll file and copy it to C:\Windows\system32 or a similar system path.
  • Register the DLL (open a command prompt, change to the directory where you copied the DLL, and type regsvr32 CopyPathExt.dll).
