s3sync

S3sync is a project mainly written in PHP, it's free.

A simple php utility that can sync data to Amazons s3 cloud.

A simple php script that can sync local files to the Amazons s3 storage. The script is rather simple so no complex diffs of data or dual sync is enabled. However, the script does check and see if a file has already been synced before uploading so it won't kill your bandwidth. I wrote the script in about an hour to sync files from my home NAS to Amazon. The script is run by a cron entry on a weekly basis and works pretty well. You'll need to install the PEAR amazon php sdk first and configure it accordingly before running this script Usage as follows:

s3.php

Where the bucket has already been created.

If you want to use this to sync files from your NetgearNAS to s3, follow these steps:

  1. Install PHP: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=35880
  2. Make sure you have ssh access, install it if you don't.
  3. Get the source for the script from this page.
  4. Install the amazon s3 php sdk via the pear channel.
  5. Edit the config file and supply you're s3 authentication credentials
  6. Setup you're crontab to look something like this:

0 3 2 /root/s3sync/s3.php
